We initially deregistered Blossom from school in May 2024. Unfortunately, she faced a very difficult time in the classroom environment and became extremely traumatised by her negative experiences there. Reflecting on everything, our only real regret is that we did not decide to pursue Home Education right from the very beginning.
Blossom is now 10 years old and she absolutely loves learning from home, or really from wherever we happen to be on any given day. We feel incredibly fortunate that she is very self-motivated and independent in her studies. Once she found her rhythm and routine, she has been flying through her lessons with great enthusiasm and confidence.
Given Blossom’s prior experiences with school-related trauma, we have thoughtfully chosen to adopt a gentle and mixed approach to her learning journey. Drawing inspiration from our rich Welsh Chapel cultural roots, as well as her profound love for all things animals, nature, the environment, and art, we have carefully crafted a unique and personalized curriculum. This curriculum is built upon a foundation of Charlotte Mason-inspired living books, which emphasize deep immersion in reading and literacy. Additionally, it incorporates nature-based exploration and fosters endless discussions and investigations into any subject that captures our curiosity and interest at the moment.
Through in-depth deep-dives into a wide variety of topics of interest, including engaging unit studies, immersive music experiences, educational Youtube videos, creative graphic design projects, and hands-on nature exploration, we have carefully developed a rich, trauma-informed, and holistic curriculum. This thoughtfully designed curriculum is intended to evolve and expand alongside her growth, supporting her development as she matures into a confident and capable adult.
Our recent relocation to the beautiful region of North Wales in 2025 has opened up an incredible world of exploration and adventure, all available just steps from our front door. We truly consider ourselves extremely fortunate and privileged to have such an abundance of stunning natural wonders and breathtaking landscapes literally right on our doorstep, ready to be discovered at any moment.
